Seneca Health Services has clinics in Summersville, Maxwelton, Marlinton and Webster Springs in WV. We have maintained offices in the small West Virginia communities of Marlinton and Webster Springs because it is important to us to ensure the residents of those communities have a local provider. While medical providers are not onsite every business day, our providers are available using telehealth to ensure that anyone in a crisis can be seen without delay. Our professional therapists and trained crisis staff are available onsite each business day.
Our newest facility, Recovery Ridge, is a 12-bed short-term recovery facility located in Summersville, West Virginia. Recovery Ridge is a medically supervised facility that offers a multidisciplinary team approach to treatment for adult males with a substance use disorder. We are proud to say that this facility is the first of its kind for its service area.
Services We Offer at Seneca Health Services

- Medication Management: We have psychiatric medical providers who recommend and monitor prescription medications if needed.
- Professional Counseling: Our experienced therapists help people discover strategies and tools to change unhealthy thoughts and behaviors and manage life’s difficulties. Our therapists are professionally trained and/or certified in trauma-informed care and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Individual and group counseling is available.
- Crisis Assistance: 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year — we are available for psychiatric emergencies.
- Crisis Stabilization & Detoxification Services: Crosswinds Center is a short term crisis stabilization and detox unit. The residential treatment program located in Maxwelton, West Virginia, offers single occupancy rooms with private baths. Treatment includes daily psychiatric medical rounds, individual and group therapy, 24/7 nursing services and protective oversight by behavioral health technicians. Admission is with physician approval.
Some services are funded in part through a contractual arrangement with the WV Department of Health and Human Services.
Behavioral Health Treatment
People come to Seneca Health Services for assistance with feelings of anxiety, depression, difficulty dealing with stress, behavioral problems, personal tragedy, substance use disorders and many other reasons. We begin each episode of treatment with an individual assessment by a qualified behavioral health clinician.
Effective treatment is different for each individual, and we personalize patient care. Child, adolescent and adult patients can receive psychiatric medical and counseling services. These sessions may be individual, family or group-based, as needed. We manage each patient’s case and provide support to help our patients find success with their treatment.
In the event of an emergency, we operate crisis services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. Should hospitalization be required, we provide a referral to an appropriate facility.
Adult Outpatient Services
Stress, anxiety, and emotional difficulties cast a shadow on everyday life. Our professionally trained staff are here to help you cope with any major problems you are experiencing. People seek behavioral health assistance for various reasons: we serve persons who are experiencing depression, anxiety or substance use disorders. The persons may have difficulties with thinking or concentrating, marriage conflicts, difficulties raising children, grief over the loss of a loved one, job stress or loss of work, sleep difficulties, loss of appetite, emotional difficulties related to legal or financial problems or difficulties dealing with a loved one who has a substance use disorder.
Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services
Seneca Health Services supports the emotional and behavioral needs of children and adolescents. Our intervention services include treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, substance use disorders and behavioral issues. The child or adolescent may be having difficulties engaging with peers, academic struggles, poor sleep, grieving the loss of a loved one or difficulty dealing with a parent who has a substance use disorder. We have therapists professionally trained and certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
Adolescent Substance Abuse
Seneca Health Services staff are experienced in assessment and counseling for adolescents engaged in substance use. When necessary, we also provide referrals to inpatient facilities. The children of alcoholics and addicts suffer from unique problems, and we have resources to address these as well.
Adult Substance Abuse
Seneca Health Services helps adults struggling with substance use disorders get their lives back on track. Our qualified professionals provide assessment, counseling and referral services for adults and their family members, and we have resources to address substance use and co-occurring disorders. Detoxification services are offered through Crosswinds Center, our short term residential treatment program.
We provide state-approved education and intervention for those charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). We also perform drug and alcohol assessments for Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and judicial organizations. Additionally, we work with groups and agencies to address the impact of substance use in our communities.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Non-Methadone Medication-Assisted Treatment is available for individuals with opioid/alcohol use disorders. The treatment program includes medication to assist with craving and withdrawal symptoms and requires participation in therapy services. The combined medication and therapy approach provides the individual with the best chance of maintaining abstinence from drugs and alcohol.
Title XIX Home and Community Based I/DD Waiver Program
The Waiver Title XIX Program is a federal and state-funded Medicaid strategy to deliver services to individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability in their home and community surroundings. The program is designed as an alternative to receiving services in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/MR) facility.
Under this program, Seneca Health Services uses a person-centered approach to provide support services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other related conditions. The goal is to achieve the highest level of independence and self-sufficiency possible within their homes and communities.
Seneca Health Services provides several essential services under the Waiver Title XIX Program, including Service Coordination, Behavior Support Specialist, Residential ISS and Skilled Nursing Services.
The Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities and the Bureau for Medical Services determines eligibility for Waiver Title XIX Services.
